AN INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL CONVERGENCE

Session Absract:
This session is for conference attendees that are not currently a member of the Modern Teacher Network.  In this session, you will learn how The Digital Convergence Framework will provide your district with a data-driven methodology to effectively move toward modern learning environments, at scale.  Attendees will learn how utilizing this open source approach will allow you to progress through 7 Stages across 5 Drivers of the education system to optimize existing infrastructure and create the conditions to scale change.  Finally, with the foundation of the Digital Convergence Framework Assessment, our team will share how districts track progress against the success indicators inside the framework and apply your own customized metrics to further district growth. This session will focus on Stages 1 and 2 of the Digital Convergence Framework.

Session Absract:
In this session you will learn about how Baltimore County is working to ensure every student has the critical 21st century skills needed to be global contributors.  Classrooms across the district are transforming to learner-centered, personalized environments in which the students take an active role in their learning through choice based on standards, interests, and learning preferences.  The BCPS systemic plan has allowed for creative and innovative practices to take root and grow.  Learn how these innovations (sprouts) have naturally fit into the overall strategic plan while allowing for flexibility. This session will focus on Stages 4, 5, and 6 of the Digital Convergence Framework.

While observing real classroom examples (video and live streaming), participants will see the connection to the district’s instructional model and learn approaches for effective implementation. MAKING YOUR INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL COME ALIVE WITH BLENDED PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

Session Absract:
The Modern Teacher Professional Learning Platform affords network members the ability to design and execute ongoing professional learning opportunities to ensure all stakeholders have the skills and dispositions for teaching and learning in a digital world. When professional learning goals are tied directly to the Instructional Model, the district can begin to apply progress monitoring techniques to track the percentage of teachers trained in the knowledge and skills necessary to scale the Instructional Model in classrooms. In this session, participants will learn: How to write professional learning goals in the Modern Teacher platform related to their Instructional Model, how to tag appropriate Modern Teacher professional learning content to the newly defined professional learning goals, and Begin to utilize Modern Teacher's PL Builder to create district-specific content to further support professional learning around the district Instructional Model.
