Session Abstract:
This session is for conference attendees that are not currently a member of the Modern Teacher Network.  In this session, you will learn how The Digital Convergence Framework will provide your district with a data-driven methodology to effectively move toward modern learning environments, at scale.  Attendees will learn how utilizing this open source approach will allow you to progress through 7 Stages across 5 Drivers of the education system to optimize existing infrastructure and create the conditions to scale change.  Finally, with the foundation of the Digital Convergence Framework Assessment, our team will share how districts track progress against the success indicators inside the framework and apply your own customized metrics to further district growth. This session will focus on Stages 1 and 2 of the Digital Convergence Framework.

The Modern Teacher Professional Learning Platform affords network members the ability to design and execute ongoing professional learning opportunities to ensure all stakeholders have the skills and dispositions for teaching and learning in a digital world. When professional learning goals are tied directly to the Instructional Model, the district can begin to apply progress monitoring techniques to track the percentage of teachers trained in the knowledge and skills necessary to scale the Instructional Model in classrooms. In this session, participants will learn: how to build customized professional learning modules in thirty minutes or less and how to tag it to the district's new Instructional Model.

Elizabeth Forward School District (EFSD) is located 40 minutes south of Pittsburgh, PA and is a Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools and an Apple Distinguished Program.  During this session, learn how EFSD has leveraged the Digital Convergence Framework for one year to develop a vision for the Conceptual Age, a strategic plan and a new instructional model for the modern classroom.  Learn how EFSD hit a plateau with innovation and technology and how Modern Teacher helped the leadership team reflect and plan in regards to Leadership, the new Instructional Model, a Modern Curriculum, the Digital Ecosystem and new ways to give Professional Development to ensure the ability to “SCALE” the modern classroom.  EFSD realized it’s not about all the technology and the Digital Convergence Framework has helped focus more on a deeper level of learning.

Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) is strategically crafting interdependent relationships both internally between innovation, technology and academics and externally with vendor partners for the purpose of creating a digital ecosystem to deliver seamless technology solutions that advance teaching and learning in order to prepare globally competitive students.  The BCPS One digital ecosystem offers one access point for a digital content repository, learning management system, student information system, professional learning platform, and numerous analytic tools; all of which are interrelated.  Participants will gain a high level understanding about how the country’s 25th largest school systems’ instructional and technical leadership teams worked collaboratively to architect their own customized digital ecosystem.   Learn how they are stretching boundaries through visioning, strategic planning, and a continuous improvement processes.   See how this evolving digital ecosystem is supporting BCPS’ transformation of teaching and learning. This session will focus on Stages 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the Digital Convergence Framework.
